NEW YORK, July 23, 2026 — Aflac, the leading provider of supplemental health insurance in the U.S., and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) today announced an expansion of their partnership, increasing supplemental prize awards for players competing on Friday, July 24, during All-Star Weekend in Chicago.
Every day, Aflac provides millions of policyholders with supplemental cash as they navigate medical costs resulting from unexpected accidents or illnesses. Now, for the third consecutive year, Aflac is bringing that same promise to the court with a new multi-tier payout structure. This year, Aflac will supplement prize winnings for WNBA players competing in the Friday night skills competitions, increasing Aflac’s total contribution to $170,000 in 2026.
The increased prize pool gives players the freedom to focus on the excitement of competition and the pursuit of a win, just as Aflac’s supplemental coverage helps policyholders focus more on recovery instead of worrying about medical bills that traditional health insurance doesn’t cover.
For the first time, through the newly expanded prize structure, Aflac will provide supplemental prize checks for the first, second and third-place winners of the 3-Point Contest:
- First Place: $40,000 Aflac supplemental prize award
- Second Place: $30,000 Aflac supplemental prize award
- Third Place: $15,000 Aflac supplemental prize award
Aflac is also investing $85,000 in supplemental payouts for the timed shooting competition. Following recent changes in the format of the event, Aflac and the WNBPA will work closely together to distribute the prize payouts.
As the players continue to reach new heights, Aflac’s ongoing partnership with the WNBPA allows the brand to support players when they need it most, just as they do for policyholders. What began in 2024 with $110,000 in supplemental prize awards has grown to $115,000 in 2025 and now $170,000 this year. This evolution reflects both Aflac’s more than 70-year legacy of helping to provide supplemental financial support and its commitment to recognizing the value WNBA players bring to the game.
“Providing cash for policyholders when they need it most is what Aflac is all about, which is why our partnership with the WNBPA is such a powerful example of our promise in action,” said Aflac Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Garth Knutson. “We’re proud to provide supplemental prize awards that recognize these incredible athletes and help give them more financial flexibility and peace of mind – just like we do for our policyholders.”
“This multi-tier prize structure is a historic moment for WNBA players that showcases the value of Aflac’s supplemental support,” said Terri Carmichael Jackson, Executive Director of the WNBPA. “We’re grateful for this partnership with Aflac and for the significant impact it will have not only on our members.” Previous recipients have shared plans to use their supplemental prize awards from Aflac to purchase homes, give to charitable foundations and invest in their communities. For one past recipient, the award exceeded half of her annual salary, demonstrating how supplemental cash payouts can create the freedom to navigate life’s important moments with greater confidence.
From helping policyholders manage medical expenses to recognizing the elite athletes shaping the future of women’s basketball, Aflac’s partnership with the WNBPA reflects its commitment to providing financial support that can create meaningful opportunity, on and off the court.
