NEW YORK, April 17, 2025 –– Aflac and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) announce the renewal of their partnership, furthering their shared commitment to elevating women’s sports. As the Official Supplemental Partner of the WNBPA for the second year in a row, Aflac, a leading provider of supplemental health insurance in the U.S., is increasing the prize pool for the 2025 WNBA All-Star’s 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge to a total of $115,000, providing greater financial recognition for top-performing athletes.
The enhanced prize pool for the Indianapolis All-Star event includes:
· $60,000 to the 3-Point Contest Champion
· $55,000 to the Skills Challenge Winner
The 2025 partnership expands with an official partnership of the WNBPA along with a branded WNBPA All-Star Lounge experience, where Aflac will present players with their prize checks.
This strengthened partnership builds on a pivotal moment from last year’s WNBA All-Star event in Phoenix. With a prize pool that paled in comparison to the men’s events, the WNBPA turned to Aflac, which swiftly provided $110,000 in supplemental prize money. That boost was especially meaningful for Allisha Gray, who became the first player to win both the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest in a single night. With Aflac’s supplement, she earned roughly 62% of her annual WNBA salary in one evening — highlighting the potential for even greater support of these athletes through this joint effort. Aflac’s latest commercial, Duck Dunk, even includes a subtle Easter egg nod to this milestone.
“Aflac is proud to partner with the WNBPA for the second consecutive year, supplementing the prize money for these remarkable athletes,” said Aflac Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Garth Knutson. “This collaboration enables us to champion some of America’s most influential athletes, just as we provide direct cash payments to our valued policyholders.”
“Aflac stands with our players when it matters most, sending a powerful message: they are seen, they are valued, and they are worth investing in,” said Terri Jackson, Executive Director of the WNBPA. “As an official partner now in year two, Aflac’s continued commitment creates a ripple effect — lifting not just the women in those pivotal moments, but the entire women’s sports industry.”
Nneka Ogwumike, WNBPA President and All-Star, highlighted the partnership’s momentum: “Aflac’s investment in us isn’t a one-off. It’s year two, they are committing to us as an official partner of the WNBPA and that’s real commitment. We’re excited about what’s ahead as we grow this together. It’s not just about the rewards; it’s about building a future where our value is undeniable.”
